It is very important for people with disabilities to be involved in sports and activities if possible. It is good physical therapy and psychologically advantageous, helping self confidence and giving opportunities to socialize. These sports, including wheelchair basketball, can be played as a fun activity and at an international level of competition.
Following WWII, there were many US servicemen confined to a wheelchair. The first record of wheelchair basketball taking place was in 1946 when veterans played each other. The sport grew in popularity, eventually crossing to many other parts of the world.
In England, the sport started at a famous hospital called Stoke Mandeville. It’s spinal injuries department is one of the largest in Europe and advances in treatment and rehabilitation there have made it a very valuable resource. The staff encouraged playing sports and wheelchair basketball games began in 1956. The hospital went on to help found the sport’s governing body, the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation.
Today, there are several international competitions and the sport has played an important role at the Paralympic Games since its first inclusion at the Rome Games in 1960. The Gold Cup is a qualifying event that takes place two years after the Paralympics. Currently, the sport is dominated by the USA, Canada, Australia, England, Japan and the Netherlands. The sport abides within the rules as set down by the International Basketball Federation and games are played on a standard size court and with a 10-foot basketball hoop. Certain rules have to be adapted. Players are not allowed to touch the wheels more than twice after receiving the ball or dribbling the ball. They must bounce, shoot or pass the ball before they can touch the wheels again.
Some countries allow mixed teams, consisting of able bodied players and players with disabilities. This mixed wheelchair basketball is found in Australia, Canada and England. Generally, teams of wheelchair bound players operate a points system, which governs the make up of the team in terms of degree of disability. Certain players have full paraplegia below the chest.
This kind of basketball is highly competitive and quick. Games are exciting and very enjoyable for spectators to watch. The clash of speeding wheels is quite common! Men, women and children can all enjoy wheelchair basketball. It is one of the best sports for people with disabilities who want to continue in competitive sport.

Sometimes pretending is the key. The countless hours we spend in front of the television and movie screens just goes to prove that we humans love to live vicariously. The things we can’t do in life, at least not while still obeying the law, are played out in our minds. But what if you could take that one step further? Maybe get together with some buddies and do a little role playing with airsoft paintball guns? Wouldn’t that be the BOMB? Of course it would. If you’re one of the few who haven’t given paintball wars a shot yet, you’re seriously missing out on a great time. Strap on your gear and load up. It’s time for war.
It was the summer of 1997 and my best friend and I were bored to death. After 20 years in the same town, there is only so much exciting left to do. It was time for a change. This is when I suggested airsoft paintball guns. I told him we should find the nearest paintball range and have a blast. After a quick flip through the yellow pages, it was done. This was going to be a day we would never forget. After arriving at the site and paying the dues, we received padding to wear for protection and sweet airsoft paintball guns. You’ve got to love the fully automatic ones. These are outstanding even in pretend combat. But be sure you have plenty of back-up ammo, because these airsoft paintball guns spray bullets like a water hose. Anyway, after playing with a variety of other people, many of which who were much better than us, we called it a day and headed out. Although we wore protective gear and helmets with face shields, we still left with some bruises. Dang, those airsoft paintball guns pack a punch! Regardless of the fact, it was still well worth it. I recommend that everyone give this game a shot at some point. It will get your adrenaline pumping.
It’s cool how airsoft paintball guns are available to anyone looking for some outdoor recreational fun. Just a word of caution, don’t play these games with children, don’t play without protective gear and never shoot someone as a joke. Trust me, it’s not a joke. These powerful airsoft paintball guns can leave some nasty bruises behind. Other than that, have a blast battling it out!

The sport of floor hockey has grown in popularity over the years, and intramural and other teams can now be found in communities, schools, and even colleges and universities. It is a unique game in that it evens the playing field for those who may enjoy the game of hockey, but are not be able to play on ice for physical or other reasons. It gives both children and adults who are not skilled in ice or roller skating the opportunity to participate in the game. Floor hockey also provides an opportunity for those who do not live in cool climates or have access to an indoor skating rate the chance to participate in the enjoyable and fast paced team sport of hockey.
As the name suggests, ice hockey is the foundation for the game. Like ice hockey, floor hockey is generally played in a rink. But instead of ice, the rink is usually made of either concrete or wood. Because it does not require the ability to skate or move about easily on an icy surface, it is an ideal team sport for many athletes with disabilities. Floor hockey has been adopted as a wheelchair sport and it is also the single team sport in the Winter Special Olympics.
Play involves the use of a puck, stick and goals. In most organized games, teams will consist of five or six players. Floor hockey players must be skilled in stick handling and shooting, as well as in passing the puck to their team members. Points are scored the same way as in ice hockey, and floor hockey goalies must be alert and quick to act to avoid allowing the opposing team to score. Generally, floor hockey players use pucks and sticks specifically designed for indoor play. One of the major differences between floor hockey and ice hockey is that players of floor hockey generally do not wear protective gear, so some safety modifications have been made to the game.
It is a sport that is adaptable to almost any location and an activity that can be enjoyed by players of varying skill levels. Floor hockey has become an increasingly popular activity. Children and adults can enjoy it in a variety of educational and community settings.
A similar game is floorball, which uses sticks made from lighter plastic materials and a ball instead of a puck. Floorball is believed to have originated from floor hockey, which goes to show how the game of hockey in general has been adapted to allow enthusiasts with various skill levels, resources and geographical limitations to enjoy the sport.

When I was a kid, I had many beloved hangouts. I loved to hide in the town park at the end of the block. Although it doesn’t look very big nowadays, when I was a child it looked like a huge forest. I loved to go to the children’s room in the library and be surrounded by beautiful books. I loved to go to the municipal pool in the summer time, where I could splash around with my friends to my hearts content. My favorite place of all was our backyard basketball court.
In first grade, I moved to a better school district with my parents. Where we came from in the city, there weren’t any backyard basketball courts. They were big outdoor basketball courts in the parks, but you had to be good to play. I was a slow bloomer at almost everything. One day, I got good at basketball but when I was just starting out I was terrible. I never felt comfortable playing at the outdoor basketball court because all of the kids made fun of me. No one wanted me on their team.
When we got the backyard basketball court everything started to change. At first, I was a little bit scared to even try to shoot hoops, but when I realized I had some privacy, I gave it a go. It took me awhile, but soon I was shooting baskets like a pro. Although my ball handling skills were not great, I could out shoot almost everyone I knew by the end of the year. Spending hour after hour after school in the backyard basketball court really made a difference. Without the basketball court backyard, I never would have discovered that I could play sports. I would have always felt clumsy.
It took me a while to get involved in the sports teams at school. At first, I would simply invite my new friends to the backyard basketball court. Backyard sport courts were very popular. If you had one, it would make your friends really quickly as long as you were willing to invite people over to play with you. Soon, I had pickup games of outdoor backyard basketball almost every afternoon. I knew that I had to take it beyond backyard basketball courts and see how well I could really play on a team. When I made the school sports team on my first try and became a starter during the first season, my parents were really proud of me. To think it all started on the backyard basketball court!

Remember back in the 70s when videogames were a fresh concept. Those days are certainly behind us. Now the big concern is, what’s next? I recall having a blast with Nintendo as a child. Wow, have things changed. These days the graphics and capabilities are endless and unstoppable. I thought it was a huge leap in technological advance when I upgraded from the Atari to the Nintendo. Well, that’s nothing compared to what kids are playing today. In modern times we have a number of systems and game varieties at our disposal. Whether you prefer a videogame console, or your PC, there’s probably a videogame you’d enjoy. Play station and XBOX seem to rule the world of videogames with their amazing graphics and addictive game selections. Even adults are far too hooked on these little electronic wonders that allow us to escape from our mundane surroundings. If you’ve never tried a videogame, you’re missing out, but be careful they’re highly addictive. You will sit down for a quick game and not get up for hours.
While videogames have certainly come along way, there are obvious downfalls to the entertaining hobby. One fault being the laziness they seem to cause amongst our youth. While we all used to enjoy heading outside for fun games, children these days tend to stay inside. A primary pastime is videogames. Today’s youth thrive on them. I actally knew a guy who carried a Playstation in his backpack at college. This way he could play videogames at will. He even sacrificed his college career to play videogames. That’s nuts! There is a larger issue concerning video games. This is the content. In modern video games, poor language, sex and violence are all too common, and sadly accepted by society. This is not the morals we want to teach our youth. Videogames are promoting violence and killing at the hands of our children. It’s supposed to be about fun, not crime.
While videogames can make an enjoyable past time, we have to be much more cautious than in the days of Super Mario Brothers. Videogames now come with ratings and restrictions. It’s bizarre the way our society thrives on devious acts, but somehow they always sell. When considering a game system for your children, it is wise to research what games are available. Luckily there still are some more child oriented videogames available these days for good hearted fun.

These days, you don’t have to take a trip to Las Vegas or phone a shady bookie to lay down some action on sporting events, or to play a few casino games. Instead, all you have to do is log onto your computer and get online. There are literally thousands of Internet gambling websites available that allow you to play virtually any type of casino game for real money or even just for fun.
Some Internet gambling sites specialize in only one game, or in several variations of the same game. For example, because poker is such a popular game right now, there are a lot of websites that only offer this game to customers. You might be able to play only one version of poker, such as Texas Hold ‘Em or you might be able to choose between a few different poker games on the same site. But you won’t be able to find, say, a roulette table on that particular website.
Then there are those Internet gambling sites that operate the way a full on casino would. That means you can switch between a bunch of different games, including blackjack, craps, keno, Baccarat, roulette, slots and any other games you would typically find in a real casino. You would be able to move between these games seamlessly and play whatever you want whenever you feel like it.
If you prefer to bet on sports, there are numerous websites that are willing to take your action. Some of these websites only allow you to bet on American sporting events, but there are quite a few that cover events from around the world. So if you want to wager on English Premier League soccer or on Australian rugby matches, you’ll certainly be able to do it.
Just as with real casinos, different Internet gambling sites offer various promotions to try to get customers to gamble with them rather than with the competition. By doing a bit of research before joining a particular site, you might be able to score some great deals. For example, you could end up getting bonus money in your account when you sign up or getting two-for-one credits on slot machine play. The premiums and prizes exist, so all you have to do is look around for them.
Signing up with any particular Internet gambling website is usually just a matter of filling out an online form with your contact information and then funding your account. Some online casinos and betting parlors allow you to fund your account with a credit card, while others will only accept cash deposits in the form of money orders or wire transfers from your bank account. Just don’t expect to be able to gamble with “house credit” - you have to have the money in your account or the website won’t take your action.

As one of the most popular video game consoles out there, the Playstation 2 (PS2) is constantly getting new games for it every week. While I’ve been overall somewhat disappointed with the games released for the PS2, there have been a few gems, and I’m always keeping an eye on the last PS2 games hoping for a few more. The latest PS2 games are never cheap, and so it’s always a good idea to know what you’re getting into before buying one. There’s nothing more frustrating than dropping over 50 dollars on a game that turns out to be terrible or something entirely different than what you thought it would be.
Finding some basic information on the latest PS2 games is easy. If you just type in ‘latest PS2 games’ under Google and hit enter you’ll get millions of responses to choose from. The vast majority of these sites don’t offer more than a basic description of the games, which sounds suspiciously like it came right off the back of the games box. If your trying to decide which latest PS2 game to buy, this isn’t really the best information to go on.
Before I get one of the latest PS2 games I like to read some actual reviews about them. Reviews on the latest PS2 games are likewise all over the internet, but most of them are pretty bad. There are a handful of sites I like that offer some well written and objective reviews, and these are usually some of the first ones that come up on a Google search. Gamespot, IGN, and Gamezone are a few of my favorites, though there are more.
Browsing through the latest PS2 games is kind of fun actually. I find myself doing it during my down time here and there, or even when I should probably be doing other things. Those sites not only have a good selection of reviews on the latest PS2 games but also have reviews on just about any kind of game you can imagine, including reviews on much older games. Even if I see a game that looks good in the store, I’ll pass, go home and read some reviews on it before I consider buying it. With just a little research, you can weed out the trash from the gems in the latest PS2 games, and save yourself some cash and heartache down the road.

Diablo II: Lord of Destruction is the expansion pack follow up for the second of the Diablo series games. As Diablo II is still to this day one of the most widely play computer games in the world. The expansion for it, Lord of Destruction, is likewise still a hot seller. Since there was never an ‘expansion’ for the first Diablo, I was surprised and excited when I head about the development of Lord of Destruction, and looked forward to it eagerly.
Few other computer games in gaming history have as much of a fan base and name recognition as the Diablo series. Blizzard could have release any piece of junk it wanted as an expansion pack for Diablo II and it would have sold like crazy. Fortunately for fans of the series, Lord of Destruction was not any piece of Junk. Lord of Destruction is probably one of the most extensive and well-conceived expansion packs I’ve ever purchased for a game. It seems Blizzard can do no wrong with the Diablo series, and it’s good to know they take it so seriously.
Not only does Lord of Destruction add a lot of new areas to battle through, including an entire new chapter to the game, it also adds loads of new content that makes the whole game feel new all over again. New items, new ways to modify your equipment, new playable characters, new monsters to bash, everything gets an upgrade. Even better, you can finally turn the resolution up a notch to 800×600! This fact more than anything I’ve appreciated the most.
The new content is in itself enough to make Lord of Destruction a successful expansion, but it’s added a chapter is also amazing. It was clear that they were planning to continue the plot from the ending of Diablo II, but how can you make an effective expansion when you’ve already killed Diablo himself? Well, they pulled it off. Baal, Diablo’s brother and the new villain in the Lord of Destruction expansion, makes Diablo seem like just some overgrown red guy with spikes on his back.
The best part in the Lord of Destruction expansion is getting to Baal. The new chapter is the best written and most visually stunning of them all. You’ll fight your way through sieges and battle your way up snow covered mountains to get to your ultimate goal. There are plenty of side quests and mini-bosses on the way to keep you focused. If you enjoyed Diablo or Diablo II at all, I definitely recommend picking up Lord of Destruction.

Who doesn’t wish they could win the lottery? The only people who don’t buy a lottery ticket every now and again are the people who are already rolling in dough. For the rest of us, the few dollars we spend picking our lucky lotto numbers gives us a chance to change our lives. Everyday we hear of regular people hitting it big on the lottery and walking away with millions. There are things you can do to increase the chances of you becoming one of those people.
Most of us, who do play the lottery, have our own system. We may pick numbers that have a personal significance to us. For instance, your lucky lotto numbers may be the birthdates of your children or the date of your wedding anniversary. Other people choose numbers out of a hat each week with the hope that lady luck will smile down on them.
Some games actually pick the numbers for you. This is done by computer and after ordering a ticket, the computer randomly picks the lucky lotto numbers for you. It may be six or seven numbers, it’s largely dependent on the rules of the particular game. Many people who have won large lottery jackpots claim this is the way to go.
You can also purchase books and software programs that promise to increase your odds of hitting it big. They are all designed on different principles and usually don’t reveal too many details until you’ve bought the product. The majority also don’t come with any type of money back guarantee so once you’ve spent that money there’s no way to get it back if the information isn’t helpful. To that end, be extra careful before you order just any program without doing any research.
One such program uses math and statistics as it’s foundation. A computer studies all of the lottery draws made for that game in the past and then calculates how often certain numbers came up. This program will then tell you what the lucky lotto numbers have been up to this point so you can play them with the hope that history does indeed repeat itself.
It’s almost impossible to win the lottery. In fact many people state that you have a better chance of being hit by lighting than you do of winning the lottery. This may be true but you’ve got to remember that you can’t win if you don’t play. So spend a few dollars and play your lucky lotto numbers because you may just be the next millionaire in waiting.

There’s no question that having access to timely and accurate fantasy football information presented by knowledgeable sources can determine in large part whether your season is a big success or a miserable failure. Being able to read about sleeper picks, bargain players, weekly matchups and statistical comparisons will give you a definitive edge over other managers. This is crucial, particularly in money leagues where there are literally tens of thousands of dollars up for grabs at the end of the season.
There are hundreds of websites out there that claim to have insider fantasy football information. Some of the sites are free to all comers, while some require a subscription or membership fee. Let’s take a quick look at the differences between the two so you can decide whether you should pay for your info or not.
First of all, the free sites are usually run by regular fans or perhaps by league commissioners. In most cases, you’ll simply be getting the same kind of articles, analysis and stats that you’d be able to find on your league homepage or at a comprehensive sports website. In other words, you’re not likely going to come away with any tips that will help you make intelligent decisions for your upcoming games. But these kinds of sites can still be useful to a certain degree. At least they are geared towards fantasy football information, which means you won’t have to wade through a bunch of extra NBA or NHL news in order to get to the good stuff. Occasionally, you might even come across a gem of a free site where the webmaster really knows the game inside and out, and posts very insightful articles full of sound advice and great strategy. Finding one of these can be a huge advantage for you, especially if no one else in your league has discovered the same site. Don’t expect that kind of website to stay under wraps for very long, however. You’d be amazed at how quickly the word gets out about these things.
The second class of websites offering fantasy football information is paying sites. These websites typically have regular news and articles that are free to anyone who visits, and then they have a password-protected section containing in-depth analysis and other special features that only paying members can access. Most of the time, the fantasy football information offered on paid sites is provided by highly knowledgeable experts who have years and years of experience with the game, either as professional sportswriters or as past national fantasy football champions. You’ll get very detailed breakdowns of each pro game for every week of the season, and you can read about how your players match up against the opposition. This kind of info can help you make critical decisions about which of your players to start and which of your players to sit, and can definitely translate into a couple of extra wins during the course of the season.
So should you pay for fantasy football information or not? If you’re in a league with minimal prizes or if you’re just playing for bragging rights, then there’s really no need to spend an extra $30 or $40 for insider tips. But if you’re playing in a league where the top prize is $50,000 and you think you legitimately have a shot at winning it all, then by all means go for it.
