It’s Your First Impression - Avery Address Labels

As a small business owner, I know how important it is to stay in contact with my customers.  Doing so lets them know that I am more concerned about establishing an ongoing relationship than just making a single sale.  For me, staying in contact can take several different forms, such as sending out monthly newsletters, sales notices, updated product catalogs or even annual reviews.  No matter what kind of materials I choose to send to my customers it usually takes a lot of time and effort to successfully complete a mass mailing.  Fortunately, I have supplies such as Avery address labels that make the whole process go a lot faster.

I prefer Avery address labels over other brands for a number of reasons.  One thing, Avery address labels are the product of choice for popular word processing programs such as Microsoft Word or WordPerfect.  This means I can format my Avery address labels right from my word processor without having to perform tedious measurements first.  I simply select the product number from a drop down box in Word, execute the mail merge feature and wait for the printing run to finish.  It’s really as easy as that!  Then the Avery address labels come out perfectly centered and very professional looking.  This is exactly what I want since that’s the first thing my customers will notice when they receive their envelopes.

Another reason that I prefer Avery address labels is that they come in a variety of sizes and styles.  One thing I can’t stand about business mailings, it’s when the label is either too big or too small for the envelope.  I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.  When I get an envelope like that, I immediately start thinking that the correspondence is from a completely amateur operation.  That’s not the image I want to project, so I make sure that I choose the right Avery address label for the job.  When I’m sending out my catalogs I use bigger envelopes, which of course call for bigger labels.  On the other hand, a simple letter would call for something smaller.  No matter what size I need, I know I can find an Avery address label that will be a perfect fit.

Finally, I continue to buy Avery address labels because they are a good value.  I constantly have to worry about my bottom line and sometimes it’s hard to find quality products at a reasonable cost.  But there are several office supply websites that offer fantastic deals on Avery address labels, so I’m always sure that I’ll be able to replenish my stock while remaining well within my budget.

If your business, church or charitable organization sends out a lot of mass mailings, I recommend using Avery address labels instead of other brands.  The first impression that your envelope makes on the intended recipient is extremely important.  So don’t put your faith in cheap products.  Check out a few of the great deals on Avery address labels and order some today.

Become A Full Service Ad Agency With Advertising Software

If you are an advertising agency executive, advertising software can really give you an edge you need. In fact, advertising software is almost completely indispensable because how can you keep track of all of your clients, projects and accounts without it? You just can’t.

The advertising software is used to tell you what is going on with an existing account. It can show and manage deadlines, tell you the requests of clients about their projects, tell you what work has already been done, and what needs to. It is similar to other business software and it often comes from other programs, but it usually has certain features customized for advertising. Advertising software is really needed by agencies.

It is important to not prematurely commit to one kind of advertising software or another and this is why many companies which sell advertising software have free trial versions which you can use for a period of 90 days usually to tell if the software is right for you. The most important thing about advertising software, or any software that your company might use for that matter, is that it feels comfortable and intuitive to your employees.  It should help them do their jobs in the most productive manner possible.  There are certain things which you should keep in mind if you are buying advertising software.

One is that it should be flexible, able to pass information back and forth between different parts of your program. You should be able to conveniently look up clients accounts and then quickly and efficiently display that either as part of that account, or in a spreadsheet showing earnings, profits, or whatever else. It shouldn’t make you look at one piece of information in only one place.  You should easily be able to re-arrange the information in any way that is useful to you.

Do not settle for advertising software which is not flexible enough to meet your needs because if you keep looking, you’ll find advertising programs which perform admirable and do everything that you want. Your advertising software should also be able to run quickly and be stable. It should automatically back up any project that is being worked on every few minutes to make sure that no data loss occurs. There should be no long delays when loading, saving or working with files. Todays modern computers are fast enough to run the advertising software at full speed, so if delays seem to frequently occur, it is bad software and you should use something else.

Adobe Creative Suite Gives Quark A Run For Their Money

We recently purchased, installed and began using Adobe Creative Suite at work. Although I am a diehard Quark fan, the cost of purchasing the software, was too cost prohibitive for our office. We opted for Adobe Creative Suite because it includes two of the industry standard tools for design - PhotoShop and Illustrator - and a contender for the title of number three: InDesign. So, like it or not, I have been forced to learn how to use Adobe’s layout tool and I must admit, I’ve come to like it.

At first, I balked at the differences between Quark and InDesign. Using Quark had come to be second nature for me. It’s so intuitive, I felt like it was an extension of my own body. So, it’s not surprising that making the switch to InDesign was somewhat painful for me. I can now use this tool quite adeptly, accomplishing pretty much anything I could previously do with Quark, much to Adobe’s credit.

Another bonus that is included in Adobe Creative Suite that I like is the image bank. I’ve installed it on my computer at work and it’s a great asset in my daily job. Part of my day’s work includes updating our Intranet home page with stories and imagery that relates to our region and workforce. The image bank included on the Adobe Creative Suite CDs is quite vast and a welcome resource when other image sources have become overused and exhausted.

We have recently installed Adobe Creative Suite at home. Although my husband is yet to be convinced about InDesign being a close contender to QuarkXpress, I’m quite confident that if he gives InDesign a run for it’s money, he will be pleased with the outcome and quickly become skilled in it’s use. I’ve even heard that you can have cloak InDesign to mimic Quark, if you really just can’t get the usability out of it with it’s current functionality.

In my opinion, releasing Adobe Creative Suite as a package deal was a marvelous move on the part of Adobe. They have revolutionized the tools used by designers across the industry, getting a stranglehold on the market. There will always be those who swear that Quark is better than InDesign, however, the purchase of InDesign is much more economical, especially when obtained as part of Adobe Creative Suite. The cost factor alone is likely enough to end this debate once and for all.

Small Business Owners Get A Point Of Sale System

The energetic entrepreneur is alive and kicking in the US.  Countless individuals are drawing on their knowledge and passion, and dipping their hands into their savings, as they venture into the world of small business.  In 2004, it has been estimated that there were around 24.7 million small businesses in the United States.  These small businesses have provided an estimated 60-80 percent of the new jobs in this country over the last ten years.

When opening a retail business, after leasing a space, drawing up a business plan and purchasing inventory, you might want to spend some time doing a bit of research on the benefits of a point of sale system.  There are several versions these days, though the most user friendly one may very well be from Microsoft.  This particular point of sales system utilizes the Windows set up that so many of us are not only familiar with, but have grown up on.

A retail point of sale system, more commonly referred to as a POS system, will help both small and large business owners streamline their day to day activities, as well as make large projects many times more manageable.  Such a system allows the business owner to set up extensive databases in multiple ways in order to serve the business in the best possible way.  Long past are the days of 10-digit registers, plug-in calculators and carbon copy credit card receipts.

The point of sale system of today looks no different than a desktop computer, with every function of said computer and so much more.  These updated and integrated systems allow the user to ring up transactions, process payments, manage inventory and print reports.  Sales can be viewed throughout the day, by product, by cashier and by the hour.  Price tags for products can be made, labels for shelves can be printed and purchases can be tracked.  There are customer databases, department databases, item databases and supplier databases.  Systems can be networked, messages can be forwarded on and ideas can be shared.  Employees can clock themselves in and out, sales tax can be set and product prices can be adjusted.  Receipts, labels and calendars can be designed.  Summary sales reports, detailed sales reports and regional sales reports can be printed.  Connect your point of sale system to your fax line and purchase orders and invoices can be processed with just a few keystrokes.

With all that a point of sale system can do for a business, it is hard to imagine not only the days when they did not exist, but running an operation in this day and age without one.  There is no doubt that many of us despise paperwork, have a habit of letting the pile in the in-box grow ever taller.  Work takes time, and time is money.  Whether you own one store, ten stores, or one hundred, you cannot afford to not have a point of sale system.

Grab And Go Wireless Notebooks

Computers have come along way since the era of DOS and the old floppy disks.  Looking back, that old Apple computer I typed a paper on back in the 7th grade seems so primitive.  A black screen with green characters and no Internet.  Many of us now deal with wireless notebooks.  I hardly think we anticipated the future of computers back then, but I’m sure glad they came so far.

Through the 90s, we all took advantage of cable Internet.  It was a true revolution in the online industry.  No more waiting on dial-up and tying up the phone line.  Oh, and that god awful sound we presently make fun of when we glance back at the old school method.  Today, we have taken another step with wireless.  After the millennium hit, wireless Internet became all the rage.  In fact, most of us even did away with the desktops and took advantage of the wireless notebooks.  These wonderful little machines do everything our old desktops did and more.  Wireless notebooks make it much easier for most of us to work on, or simply play on our computers when ever we please.  No more two ton monitors or huge towers to deal with.  It’s all inclusive, and you can buy them in a variety of manageable sizes.  From PCs to Macs, there’s a wireless notebook to suit your needs.

A great attraction to these new age computers is the convenience.  It’s become another on of our little fast food routines.  We simply grab our three pound computer and head to a coffee shop.  This way we can relax with a cup of java while chatting to friends, or possibly get some homework done in a more peaceful environment.  Whatever your computer need, you can get it done on a wireless notebook.  The great thing is that they’re not lacking.  These babies come with a hundred gigs if desired.  Anything from Internet access to burning CDs and DVDs is possible with wireless notebooks.  Many public hang outs and hotels have even catered to our every whim with wireless access.  Headed to Starbucks?  Cool, bring your computer along.  You can enjoy the Internet outside of your home.

As a writer, I certainly appreciate the value of wireless notebooks.  This way I can travel with my work and it’s no big hassle.  If I want to finish a script or write a quick synopsis on the way to my parents’ house for the holidays, no big deal, I just grab my Mac and go.

Stay On Time With An Alarm Clock Download

Many people get lost in their work each day. This is especially true if they are focusing on a computer monitor and typing away at a keyboard. Coffee breaks and lunch time are often neglected because the hours pass so quickly. When they do finally glance at the clock, it’s time to call it a day. With an alarm clock download on their computer they can schedule their breaks at the beginning of the day or week. The chime will ring at the specified time telling them to take advantage of a well deserved few minutes away from their desk.

These software programs can be found for free on many websites all over the Internet. They are easy to install and with a bit of tweaking an alarm clock download program can notify a person of everything from meeting times to medication schedules. They are certainly not only for the office as they can serve so many uses in the home as well.

Reminders are often welcome for anyone with a schedule to keep. A new mom would certainly agree to that. Trying to get an infant to follow a sleeping or eating pattern is virtually impossible, but there is a way that an alarm clock download program can make life a bit easier in a household that has just welcomed a new addition. One way is to set the alarm clock download to ring to the time when the baby’s vitamins or any medications are due. It also helps for the parents who may find themselves so overwhelmed by caring for a newborn that they forget their daily medications too.

Families with several children would do well to download one of these programs. Things like play dates, practices and homework times can all be scheduled into the alarm clock download program. In fact, every family member can have their own distinct tone that rings to remind them of what they need to tend to. With a computer in a community space like the kitchen or a family sitting area, every appointment is certain to be remembered.

If you’re a relatively organized person and aren’t looking for something to remind you of small things each day, you can still make great use of an alarm clock download program. Birthdays, anniversaries and special celebrations can often slip even the most organized person’s mind. With an alarm clock download program you only need enter important dates once and each year you’ll be reminded of them. Setting up the reminder for a few days or a week before someone’s birthday will give you ample time to get a card or gift in the mail so it arrives right on time.

Diablo Continues His Terror With Lord Of Destruction

Diablo II: Lord of Destruction is the expansion pack follow up for the second of the Diablo series games.  As Diablo II is still to this day one of the most widely play computer games in the world.  The expansion for it, Lord of Destruction, is likewise still a hot seller.  Since there was never an ‘expansion’ for the first Diablo, I was surprised and excited when I head about the development of Lord of Destruction, and looked forward to it eagerly.

Few other computer games in gaming history have as much of a fan base and name recognition as the Diablo series.  Blizzard could have release any piece of junk it wanted as an expansion pack for Diablo II and it would have sold like crazy.  Fortunately for fans of the series, Lord of Destruction was not any piece of Junk.  Lord of Destruction is probably one of the most extensive and well-conceived expansion packs I’ve ever purchased for a game.  It seems Blizzard can do no wrong with the Diablo series, and it’s good to know they take it so seriously.

Not only does Lord of Destruction add a lot of new areas to battle through, including an entire new chapter to the game, it also adds loads of new content that makes the whole game feel new all over again.  New items, new ways to modify your equipment, new playable characters, new monsters to bash, everything gets an upgrade.  Even better, you can finally turn the resolution up a notch to 800×600!  This fact more than anything I’ve appreciated the most.

The new content is in itself enough to make Lord of Destruction a successful expansion, but it’s added a chapter is also amazing.  It was clear that they were planning to continue the plot from the ending of Diablo II, but how can you make an effective expansion when you’ve already killed Diablo himself?  Well, they pulled it off.  Baal, Diablo’s brother and the new villain in the Lord of Destruction expansion, makes Diablo seem like just some overgrown red guy with spikes on his back.

The best part in the Lord of Destruction expansion is getting to Baal.  The new chapter is the best written and most visually stunning of them all.  You’ll fight your way through sieges and battle your way up snow covered mountains to get to your ultimate goal.  There are plenty of side quests and mini-bosses on the way to keep you focused.  If you enjoyed Diablo or Diablo II at all, I definitely recommend picking up Lord of Destruction.

Make Your Own Business Cards At Home

When any new, small business is opening it’s doors, saving money seems to be a priority. It can take a lot of money to start and operate even a home based business so if there are ways to cut costs, you’ll want to utilize them. One way to do this without sacrificing anything is to make business cards with your home computer and printer.

One of the essential ways to guarantee the success of your new business is marketing. For the budding entrepreneur, they need to look at each and every opportunity as a potential new business contact. Having a healthy supply of business cards at the ready is important. Ordering them from a printer will cost a pretty penny, so if you make business cards yourself, you’ll enjoy the savings.

Your first stop should be a stationary store. Here you’ll find a wide selection of different papers. There is stationary that enables you the opportunity to print almost anything you want from your home printer. Postcards, bookmarks and even banners are a few of the items. When you want to make business cards at home you need to look for blank cards at the stationary store. These come in sheets that are the same size as a standard piece of paper. They have many perforations on them in the shape of business cards, so all you need to do is print and separate them.

Once you’ve got the right supplies it’s time to get down to the business of making your cards. For this you’re best off using a software program with a template to make business cards. Of course you could create your own template using your word processing software, but that will take much longer and probably be frustrating. If you don’t have a software program there are many free ones that can be downloaded.

The sky is really the limit when you are designing yourself. You can go the traditional route and use plain black text on white cards or you can make business cards that are multi-colored. The cards should reflect the tone of the business. If you are promoting yourself as an accountant you certainly don’t want to make business cards that would be appropriate for a professional clown or magician. Choose a template that fits your business’ style.

Once they are completed they’ll look as professional as any that you would order from a printing shop. Carry them with you so you can always hand one out and spread the word about your new and hopefully thriving business venture.

Do You Really Need A Laptop Notebook Computer?

Anyone who works from home on his PC knows that there is no greater thing in life than a laptop notebook computer. The idea of sitting at a desk for hours on end is not appealing to anyone. Many of us choose to work from home with the decadent dream of getting away from the office but without a laptop notebook computer we just find ourselves chained to a different desk. The only difference is that this desk is in our house.

A laptop notebook computer is a must-have for a person who spends a considerable amount of time typing away or surfing the Internet. Choosing the right product is rather tricky and you may find that you spend more time shopping and less time buying when you are in the market for a laptop notebook computer.  I know this all too well because this particular item has been on the top of my wish list for about two years now. Why haven’t I purchased a laptop notebook computer? Is it money? No. Is it general laziness? Not really. Then why can’t I make a simple purchase like this?

Because it is anything but a simple purchase. Today’s laptop notebook computer offers way too many different options. There are the models that are sleek and sophisticated and while I do admire the attractive look of these items I am fully aware of my particular lot in life.  As well as the way my laptop notebook computer will be treated. This makes me apprehensive about investing in a relatively expensive piece of equipment that may wind up in pieces.

There are the models that are designed to take a beating. I saw one laptop notebook computer that looked like it was covered in armor. Not only was the system completely covered with extra coatings to keep it safe it also had rubber bumpers on its edges. This design is fine for a Hummer but I’m not quite sure if I want to tote it around in a laptop notebook computer.

I guess that my major setback is the simple fact that I already own a personal computer. Why should I spend extra money so I can work just about anywhere? Other people have to commute to the office and sit in front of a monitor all day while at work. Why shouldn’t I? I suppose that having a laptop notebook computer is just excess but it is still on the top of my list.

Lock Anything Up With A Security Cage

Security cages come in all shapes and sizes, and can allow for a great deal of peace of mind for many business owners, from mom-and-pop shops to multi billion dollar corporations.  Security cages allow businesses and even private homes to keep important materials secure, even within a general-access area of a building.

Large security cages can cover areas the size of entire rooms and can either be portable or permanently anchored into the surrounding building.  Portable systems allow the cages to be broken down and transported to other locations, helpful if a business moves often or has contracted positions at a variety of locations.  Permanent cages, though more expensive to install, are generally more secure and harder to break into than portable systems.

Most large cages are either made up of chain link fencing, similar to that used in outdoor fences or wire mesh.  Chain link fence, though cheaper to purchase and install, generally doesn’t provide the same security as wire mesh.  Both however, can be permanent or portable and can be used to seal off large areas of rooms or even entire areas of a building quickly and easily.

Smaller security cages can cover areas from the size of a computer workstation to a single copier or VCR.  They are useful in protecting electronic equipment in high-traffic areas like schools or waiting rooms from theft as they can allow for the use of electronics without allowing the electronics to be moved from their positions.  They are often anchored or bolted to desks or walls, preventing the items from being moved at all.

A large cage can protect a cubicle workspace, providing a measure of security in a general area that can be accessed by a large number of people.  These smaller cages are usually made up either of reinforced bars or of steel mesh.  Bar style cages are nice for schools or universities that need to keep electronic equipment in classrooms without worrying about theft while the classrooms are unoccupied.  They allow projectors or computers to be used over the course of the day without allowing them to be moved around the room or out of the room by anyone not authorized to do so.

Security cages allow documents, medicines, electronics or other expensive or sensitive items to be kept secure while still allowing unrestricted use by authorized personnel.  They can be used to increase security in already secure areas or to secure items in publicly accessed areas.  They also come in a convenient range of sizes to keep any range of items safe and sound.
