A Certified Bookkeeper Is Better Than Just A Bookkeeper

Being a certified bookkeeper is probably one of the most important and widely used positions in the business world. As many people may already know, there is no requirement that you need to be certified if you want to work as a bookkeeper. Being a certified bookkeeper does come with it’s advantages though. By being certified, it proves that you can handle the books for any company with many employees. It also ensures an employer that your work meets the highest national standards out there.

There are steps that have to be taken to become a certified bookkeeper. This keeps some people from pursuing the title. If you obtain the title, although not necessary, it can take you a long way in your career and help to land you jobs that are in high demand. To become a certified bookkeeper, you need to pass three separate tests and agree to a code of ethics by signing them. Another qualification factor in obtaining the title is having at least two years of previous work experience.

If you notice, there is no requirement to the type of education you have, so essentially anyone with the knowledge it takes to be a bookkeeper can become a certified bookkeeper. In other words someone who has no college education but has 15 years of work experience as a bookkeeper can still take the tests, sign the code of ethics and become a certified bookkeeper. Just like someone who was educated in college to do the job.

Although working in the bookkeeping field does not require you to be a certified bookkeeper, there are certainly some advantages to having the title. First and foremost, potential compensation for your work can be greatly increased a lot faster than a bookkeeper that is not certified. A certified bookkeeper is usually also the one at the top of the list for advancement opportunities within a company and is generally trusted more than a bookkeeper who is not certified.

At the end of the day it comes down to who is most qualified for a working position as a bookkeeper, but you can bet that if competition is between a bookkeeper who is not certified and one who is, the certified bookkeeper will probably get the job. That isn’t to say a certified bookkeeper will always get the job with no doubts, it just means they certainly have more of a chance to land the job than someone without the credentials to back themselves up.

Human Resource Companies Culls Out The Deadbeats

There are many human resources companies offering their services. Some specialize in assisting companies to find the best employees, that are most suited to each individual organization and job description. Others take it from a different angle and assist individuals to team up with most suitable employers. Still others offer recruitment advertising services, handling the entire recruitment process from writing up job descriptions, to posting job ads, to receiving resumes, interviewing and hiring the best employees for the posted positions. These human resources companies sometimes work on a retainer basis, while other times they work on a hiring-to-hiring basis. Some discounts may be offered for repeat business and guarantees are generally in place ensuring that businesses using the services of these human resources companies actually get what they are paying for.

Companies that specialize in recruitment advertising sometimes focus their business on just the advertising itself. They generally offer services including copy writing, advertisement design and ad placement, as well as media planning, holding job fairs and creating collateral materials. Organizations that usually opt to use the services of one of this type of human resources companies include nationwide banking institutions, colleges and universities and hospitals, whose recruitment needs are ongoing and often involve mass hirings.  Still other human resources companies specialize in resume writing and career workshops, assisting job seekers in finding the best ways of marketing themselves and thereby better positioning themselves as employees-of-choice in their communities.

The services of these human resources companies can make all the difference in the recruitment process, both for employers and job seekers alike. Their services may seem expensive at first, but the value they can offer goes a long way in making this investment worthwhile. A lot of time can be wasted and many wild goose chases can be embarked upon without the expertise and direction of a human resources companies. If an organization lacks an in house human resources team, then they are well advised to spend the extra money and turn the recruitment process over to the professionals, who often guarantee longterm results.

Job seekers may balk at paying for assistance with reworking their resumes.  This is generally a nominal fee and by accepting professional resume writing assistance individuals can benefit by increasing their earning power exponentially and ensure a good fit with an employer that best suits their skill set and career goals.  So too, employers who avail themselves of these services are making a valuable investment in their employees, resulting in profit down the road.

For artists especially, advertising jobs are plentiful. This is because of the visual nature of modern society. With the tremendous amount of information which is constantly flowing at us, few people take the time to read over just any old message they receive. Corporate logos, graphics in tv commercials, business cards, layouts of presentations and web design are just a few of the areas in which advertising jobs require talented artists to do the work. And you don’t need any special training, besides artistic training, to get the job done.

For writers too, advertising jobs are the way to go. Not just writers, but anyone who has graduated school in the humanities and is trying to decide on a career. You wouldn’t even believe how many business people can’t write a decent English sentence. They completely depend on humanities types for almost any kind of communication. Within a few years, you could be making upwards of $100,000 every year!

There are many programs that offer training for advertising jobs, but really, the best way to go about getting one is just to apply to a company and acquire an entry level position. If your writing skills are strong and you are willing to work very long work weeks, then you will quickly advance through the ranks until you are really making the big bucks. This is simply too good an opportunity to let pass if you are like me, someone who loves the written language. Rather than going into law or management, I get to use my persuasive skills to advance the merits of my clients products on a daily basis. Life really just can’t get more fulfilling than getting paid to do what you love, especially if you are making the big bucks like advertising jobs pay.

What A Cakewalk - Web Design Company

In 2003 and most of 2004, I worked for an advertising and web design company that specialized in providing e-commerce solutions. The company I worked for is called the Mars Hill Group. It was started in 1996, by a man named David Baker and backed by the Reimer family, a well established business name in the city.  When I started my title was Director of Client Services. I was hired to act as a mediator or go between, to ensure that client expectations were clearly understood by our team of designers and developers. I would create timelines and carry out all project management and make sure that the client got what the client paid for, with no last minute, nasty surprises.

Our team was made up of some of the best talent in the city. Our Creative Director had a flair for design that was second to none. Our Lead Developer could make absolutely any vision into a reality and with style! And our support staff really worked like a well oiled machine achieving stellar results every time, on time. With confidence I can say that we had the potential to become the leading e-commerce and web design company in the city! We had our sights set on going national.

And then I was offered a government job. This job was basically an administrative position with a little bit of communications thrown in. They wanted me because I had a good understanding of the web and a background in design and communications. I took one look at the job description and had to laugh. They wanted to pay me a heck of a lot more money, to do work that I was way over qualified to do. It would be a cakewalk. I just didn’t see how I could turn down this opportunity.

I felt really bad about leaving the team at Mars Hill Group. We were like a little family and I was really starting to love the world of an e-commerce and web design company. I had finally found my groove and I threw it all away for the mighty dollar!  I left the Mars Hill Group just over a year ago. I still check their website on a regular basis. I’m always keeping an eye out for their trademark work, it has a special flair that I’d recognize anywhere. I know my heart belongs to the world of web design and e-commerce. I just hope that one day soon I’ll find my way back home.

Without Inventory Management There Would Be Chaos

When I look at the innocuous bar code on various products in the local supermarket, I never cease to be amazed about the person who invented the technology or thought up the concept. For if truth be told, the humble bar code is one of the biggest leaps taken by mankind in the highly critical world of inventory management. Without the barcode, inventory management would still be lagging behind. In fact, I would go so far as to say that there might not have been a structured field like inventory management at all!

For a long time, I was under the mistaken belief that inventory management was merely a catchphrase to describe the storage activities of any business. But the complex nature of business in the present day and age makes inventory management a highly specialized science that has it’s own language, terms of frequent use, qualified professionals and even software. You might have heard about the kind of software associated with inventory management. It is better known as enterprise resource planning software (or ERP). Most ERP software has inventory management at the core of its programs.

I first came across inventory management in the true sense of the term when I visited the warehouse of an acquaintance, who manufactured various automobile parts for some bigger car manufacturers. Such people, who manufacture parts of bigger orders, are known as Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Anyways, this OEM made gearboxes for a large car company. What he did was to assemble the gearboxes, made from various parts that various other companies supplied him with. This is where, I got to see inventory management at work. Since he relied on regular supply from five different vendors, this person needed similar deliveries, at similar times from all five of the suppliers to make or rather, assemble his gearboxes. Even if one of his suppliers fell behind on the schedule, his assembly could not be completed. Hence, he had installed a highly efficient inventory management tool that kept track of his rate of supplies and calculated how many pieces of the gearbox he could assemble. This tight control on his inventory management process made him efficient and capable of delivering to the major car manufacturer as per schedule.

But inventory management is about a whole lot more than just efficiently building on demand. In super markets, you need inventory management to keep track not just of sales, but also of which items are in demand and need to be replenished. In the kitchens of large hotels, inventory management can streamline the effective procurement of fruits, vegetables, meat and poultry products to equip the kitchen to function effectively. Even in the textiles business, effective inventory management can helping hassle free sourcing of various parts like buttons and zippers on time, to ensure completion of the stitching activities to facilitate delivery.

Without inventory management there would be chaos. People reliant on one part of the supply chain mechanism in order to make additional parts or to take further action would be unable to function well. So inventory management can effectively streamline the entire process flow of a business and drectly impact productivity.

Land The Quality Control Job Of Your Dreams

If you’re looking for a quality control job, you can try the usual search methods like the classified ads section of your local newspaper or recruitment websites on the Internet.  But chances are you’ll merely end up getting another run-of-the-mill position from one of those outlets.  That’s because sometimes the best quality control jobs aren’t advertised in those types of places.  Instead, companies may contract placement agencies to find qualified candidates for them.  That means in order for you to be considered for these prime positions, you should register with some of these placement agencies.

Registering with an agency is actually preferable to many people for several different reasons.  First of all, you don’t have to do as much of the legwork that usually goes along with job hunting.  You simply submit your resume to a few different agencies, interview directly with them, and then sit back and wait for them to match your skills to an open position.  A second advantage to signing up with a placement agency is that you’re likely to breeze through the hiring process at your future company much faster than if you were a walk-in candidate.  Part of the duties of placement agencies include pre-screening candidates based on the client company’s specific requirements.  So once the placement agency makes a recommendation to fill a quality control job, the client company assumes that the recommended candidate already meets or exceeds their requirements.  Another advantage to signing up with an agency is that you’ll always have your records on file with them.  So the next time you want to switch jobs, the process will be even easier since the agency staff will already be familiar with you.

But you can’t expect to get any quality control jobs without possessing the basic skills necessary for those types of positions.  Many placement agencies will give you a couple of tests as part of the screening process, so it would be a good idea to brush up on skills such as blueprint reading, measuring techniques, and reading a ruler to a fraction of an inch.  Depending on the specific field, a quality control job might also require you to know the metric system and know how to use a variety of different measuring instruments, both handheld and larger scale.  The more up-to-date your skills are, the easier it will be for the agency to place you.

If you’re not excited by the help wanted ads you see in the newspapers or online, try registering with a placement agency.  By doing so, you just might land the quality control job of your dreams!

Hey Employers Let Us Apply Online For Jobs

Employers in today’s job market have come a long way in developing tried and true methods of attracting top talent. Gone are the days when a simple, handwritten sign could be placed in a shop window advertising a current opening.  They have to be prepared to pay big bucks to find qualified employment candidates and be willing to invest some serious time in the process as well.  Along with newspaper recruitment, employers are quickly availing themselves of job banks and recruitment websites, which allow them to reach potential employees 24-hours a day, and virtually internationally. This has opened up the playing field, making for fierce competition amongst job seekers and giving employers a vast range of talent to choose from.

Surprisingly, employers have a tendency to overlook a very important mechanism in their recruitment.  Employers neglect to provide potential employees with the ability to apply online. This may seem like a small oversight, but the impact of this mistake is astounding, often reducing the number of applications by a huge percentage.  Going as far as posting a job opening on the web, but withholding the functionality to apply online undermines the effort that’s been made in posting at all. Job seekers who use online search tools are usually quite technically inclined and may even prefer to apply via email. Email is free and easily accessible. Limiting job seekers to only mailing or faxing in their application may even discourage people from applying. These candidates likely have an electronic resume prepared and possibly even an online portfolio for potential employers to browse their work. Having to go back and recreate their resume for mailing or faxing purposes is time consuming and really shouldn’t be required.

Offering such limited methods of contact may even raise questions about the employer’s professionalism, technical know how and understanding of today’s competitive job market. At the very least, potential employee’s may sense a lack of consideration and skip over the posting entirely. When employers neglect to allow for online applications, they are eliminating the very job seekers that they are likely seeking to attract by posting their ad online in the first place.  It is also of value to note that online forms requiring extensive input by job seekers, may also be overlooked. Job seekers usually find these forms to be a mere repetition of the information that has already been painstakingly compiled on their resume. While it may be easier to collect information by means of an online form, again this indicates a lack of consideration for potential candidates and discourages applications from job seekers who have limited time for their job search.

The best choice is to provide a simple contact email address to receive resumes from interested job seekers. This email address, needs to have the capacity to receive reasonably sized files as well, especially if work samples are required with the application.  Providing a mechanism to apply online need not be complicated. Hours need not be spent creating extensive forms to capture candidates information. Keeping it simple and giving potential employees several options for applying will ensure the success of your recruitment process, enabling you to hire the best talent for your company.

A Maryland DUI Lawyers Says - Everyone Deserves A Fair Trial

As a Maryland DUI lawyer, I have a job that requires more philosophy than most. You see, I have to face the fact that, a lot of the time, I am going to work to defend people who are probably guilty.  People who’s behavior may of put others in danger, or even caused them injury or death. But as a  Maryland DUI lawyer, I can sleep soundly at night despite all of these things because, while all the people who criticize me believe in vengeance, I believe in justice. And believing in justice means believing in the justice system, where everyone is entitled to fair representation in court, and everyone is entitled to the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty. Many people think that anyone even accused of drunken driving is scum and should be locked up and have the key thrown away.  I see it differently. I think that we should not judge these people in the court of public opinion and really should say as little about their actions either way until the court system has had it’s say on the matter.

Before I was a Maryland DUI lawyer, I felt differently on the matter. One of my earliest memories growing up, was of having my parents car broad sided by a drunken driver. Fortunately, we were all wearing our seat belts and no one was permanently injured.  But, my father’s back gave him trouble for years after that incident, and my mother suffered panic attacks. Growing up, I was in Students Against Drunken Driving and even wrote letters to my congressman asking for tougher punishments for DUI.  If you had told me, growing up, that I was going to be a Maryland DUI lawyer, I would have said that you were crazy.

Being a Maryland DUI lawyer isn’t the same as being for drunken driving, or even for drunken drivers. A Maryland DUI lawyer is just one special type of criminal defense attorney.  That is, an attorney who specializes in defending people against criminal charges. Our justice system is based on the idea that there are two sides to every story. As a trial lawyer, I make sure that my clients have their side told to the jury and judge, and that they know all of their rights when facing the serious accusation of driving under the influence. A Maryland DUI lawyer is every bit as much a part of the process of seeing justice done as a judge or prosecutor.

You Can Do It - The Power Of Positive Thinking

You will always hear new ideas on how to live a better life. Some of the things you are going to hear are just not going to work, and there are some that work with amazing efficiency. It can be very confusing because there are so many ideas out there, and so many different people who think that they have the answer. The problem is that what works for one person will not work for everyone, and quite often you won’t know what you should choose. One idea is to live by the power of positive thinking.

Though I can not vouch for everyone, I can say that the power of positive thinking is something that I try to use in my life. I had no idea there were books and specials on television about it. It was just something I decided to do about ten years ago. I was depressed and felt like I was stuck in a horrible place in life. I felt like I could not escape. I was sitting in my doctor’s office crying my eyes out, and my doctor calmly told me that there is always a way out, but I would have to believe it. This was the first I had heard about the power of positive thinking and I wish it was something I had known long ago.

Though he didn’t put it into those exact words, he did say that you have to remain positive that things will work out, and you will find that they do. He said the power of positive thinking would force me to change how I viewed problems, and would help me see what I wanted for my life. Up until that point, I thought life was a series of accidents, and I did feel sorry for myself. In that moment, I realized how pitiful that was, and how I was defeating myself with all of my negative thoughts.

Within a matter of months, the power of positive thinking had changed my life. I was back in college and working towards a new career. Many of the other problems I had cleared up, though they did not magically go away. I did have to work on them. When I began to use the power of positive thinking, the answers seemed to come to me much more clearly, and I felt energized. For the first time in my life, I thought that I was finally in control of my own destiny. If you really believe, you can do this for yourself as well.
