Be Someone Else And Go To A Costume Party

Having 20 little six-year olds racing through my house was not exactly something that I’d wanted to do with my weekend. But it was my daughter’s birthday and she’d wanted to have a princess party. I had not been able to say no. So my sister-in-law and my husband and I decided to chaperone a princess costume party and try to keep the house from being destroyed. She’d send out invitations telling her little friends that it was her birthday and that she was having a princess costume party. All of the other girls seemed incredibly thrilled about it and I’m certain that their mothers were happy to have an evening to themselves.

For my daughter, having a costume party was a dream come true. If she had it her way, she’d live in her dress-up clothes. I won’t allow her to wear them to school, but she puts them on once she gets home. She’s even worn them to the mall and restaurants before. I’m not about to complain - she looks adorable as a little princess and it makes her happy. I could tell from glancing at some of the other girls’ costumes, that their mothers had improvised princess costumes for them. They all looked absolutely adorable. It was her best birthday party ever, she had informed me afterwards.

Having a costume party isn’t just something that goes over as a huge hit for children. Adults sometimes love the opportunity to feel young and playful again, doing something that is out of the ordinary for them. Halloween is an excellent time to have a costume party, of course, but don’t limit yourself to just that holiday. It might be incredibly fun to get an invitation to a costume party at any time of the year. Your costume party could have a theme, encouraging everyone to dress from a certain time period or a particular character. Having a costume party doesn’t have to cost very much money or require much work to organize. You don’t even have to send invitations. Call your friends on the phone to invite them or send email invitations.

One of the most fun and eventful costume parties that I’d been to was actually a murder mystery. I received an invitation that assigned me a certain personality and character, and I had to dress for the part. The party ended up being so much fun. Everyone who attended absolutely loved doing something so out of the ordinary. Throw a costume party and see for yourself.

Never Too Old For Trick Or Treating - As Long As You Have Costume Accessories

Well, it looks like tomorrow night is the night. I hate to admit it but the end is near. I can feel the hot breath of evil burning my neck as the moon grows full. What will we do on this frightful occasion? How will we escape the madness of angry spirits, haunting ghouls, demonic creatures and ruthless creatures galore? In no time at all they will be frolicking blissfully throughout the streets, their sights set on home after home and then they’ll be right upon your doorstep. What will you do? Hey, I’ve got an idea. Just give them some CANDY! That’s all they want. Once you hand it over, they’ll skip off with a smile stretched from ear to ear. I should know, I will be accompanying one of these little terrors tomorrow night, on Halloween. Now, I must gather the costume accessories and flashlights.

We are missing out! Am I wrong here or what? Who ever said that we adults can’t go trick-or-treating? May be I want to bust out some costume accessories and a plastic sword to hit up all the neighbors for booty. That’s loot, if you didn’t already know. Yep, pirate talk. Anyway, it just seems a bit biased to not let us parents gather as much candy as possible too. We need the sugar rush and vast selection of chocolate just like any kid does. What’s your take on this? I noticed that my 15 year old daughter was trick-or-treating a few years back and some neighbors got annoyed. What is this about? Are you telling me there is suddenly an age discrepancy with trick-or-treating? Give me a break. I tell you what, folks have gotten cheap or lame or both as the years have passed. I will pass out candy to anyone who steps up to my door in a costume on Halloween. It’s but one night out of the year.

Ah, the costume thing. This very well might be the best part of All Hallows Eve. It’s sort of a toss up between the costume accessories and the candy. However, I may have to choose the masks and costume accessories simply for escape reasons. These guises offer us a wonderful way to escape our redundant regime. Seeing that it only comes one out of 365 days in the year, I would take full advantage of it. Have an utter blast on Halloween!

Being Creative Is What Adult Costumes Are All About

Halloween is a holiday for kids of all ages. Most people don’t celebrate the dark meaning of the holiday, they simply enjoy dressing up and hanging out with friends. Halloween has always been something that has been enjoyed in my family, if for nothing more than an excuse to try to scare each other. It’s almost become a tradition to see who can scare whom more. My brother once dressed up as Mike Meyers from the Halloween movies and hid in the bushes, scaring the wits out of each person who was unlucky enough to walk by.

When it comes to adult costumes for Halloween you have two options. You can buy something, or you can make something. I don’t believe I have ever bought adult costumes, as I find it much more fun to make something. When you make adult costumes on your own, you can make anything you heart desires, and you can be sure no one else will be wearing the exact same thing. No matter how crafty you are, or if you feel you are all thumbs, you can find ideas for adult costumes that you can make at home.

Many adult costumes you find in stores are older versions of what the children are wearing, with a few exceptions. There are some costumes that are decidedly adult only and those are usually for women. If you want something unique, don’t go to the store and buy one. Although, if you look online for adult costumes, you may find something that no one else in your area has and you may be OK. If anything, you can find an outrageous wig or a wild prop to make your costume unique.

For the truly memorable adult costumes, you must make one yourself. If you have something in mind, you can search through thrift stores to find the pieces you need and go to craft stores for most of the special effects you may be looking for. If you don’t like to sew and glue, go to a store that carries nothing but adult costumes, and mix and match a few different items. If you are fresh out of ideas, look online for something you love and give it a personal twist. You can also look through your closet for a lost piece of clothing you no longer wear, and think of many different adult costumes you could construct from it. This may be the best way to come up with a unique costume when you’ve run out of ideas.

The Fear Of Getting Sick - Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance

I have been using Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance for several years and do have some really mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance is a pretty cheap alternative to many of the other health care providers, but on the other hand, it is a pretty lousy kind of health insurance. Sure the co-pay for Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance is always real low, but the downside is that you have to always be waiting. It can take weeks to get an appointment, can take months to get the referral to a specialist if you need it, and, well you get the idea. If I could afford one of the more premium health care providers, I would quit Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance right away, and that is a fact.

Of course, most of the health care providers out there are pretty bad. Whether they are HMOs, PPOs or whatever, they are all a little difficult, and are really only out there for making money. They will maximize the money that they can make, while minimizing the care that their patients can get. When you use Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance, you are put at somewhat of an advantage over some people who have to pay more, but the fact is that it is not really a solution to our nation’s health care problems. Besides Blue cross Blue Shield health insurance is no where near is good as Medicare or Medicaid in terms of prices. The only thing that will really make things better in the long run is to have a system of single payer health care.

Unlike Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance or any other health care provider, having single payer means that everyone is insured. In countries where everyone pays into a central health system, every single person is sure to get their needs met, whether they have money or not. There will be no more uninsured kids, or families which run in to years of problems when someone goes and gets sick. It is really the very best solution that there is for health care. Until that happens, however many Americans will have to continue to live in fear of getting sick, knowing that it will put a severe strain on their ability to ever make ends meet again. For now though, I guess I’ll stick with Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance.

They’re Back! Old TV Shows On DVD - Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Do you watch TV on a regular basis? The answer is probably yes. Most of us are sucked into the imaginary world of art imitating life, or now days I guess it’s more like life imitating life with all of the reality shows. While we all love television, most of us have our favorite shows. For me, one of those favorites was “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. I thought this was the epitome of escapism. It’s a completely fictional world of monsters, demons and super heroes. How can anyone not appreciate that? Talk about a classic break from reality. I watched this show in it’s series entirety. For some reason I couldn’t get enough. Although it ended a few years back, I can still enjoy it with my Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD set.

Have you ever noticed that many of the old series are going to DVD? While I typically don’t purchase a TV series, I had to acquire the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” DVD set. I found it at Best Buy and couldn’t resist. I think that everyone has a show like this. My best friend loves the “X Files” so he purchased the entire series on DVD. Now granted, this can cost you some bucks. Stores usually sell them by the season. This means you are going to have to fork out some cash for each separate season of shows.

If you jump online, you can find a variety of stores that offer the Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD set and many more. I also found the three seasons of the series “Millennium” on DVD. A great place to search for these shows that no longer air new episodes is Amazon.com. This website offers the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” DVD set, in addition to various others for a rather competitive price. In fact, this is the online store that I would recommend if you are in dire need of some rare entertainment such as the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” DVD. Amazon offers an enormous selection of products, which can even be purchased used. They have prices to vie with any other big name stores.

Check out the vast array of DVDs online today. I find it beneficial to browse a number of websites if you can’t seem to locate a particular show or film. You will quickly realize the variations in price from website to website. If you’re in the mood for some incomparable monster action with a twist of human emotion, the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” DVD set is the way to go. This unique series actually turned out much better than the original corny film. That is an anomaly in itself.

It Won’t Magically Appear - Go Buy Your Harry Potter Costume Now

Oh brother, will the hype ever dissipate over the Harry Potter books? These creative little novels have earned one lady tons of capital. There’s no disputing that. God knows how much she has pulled in on the books alone. Then there is the film series. We certainly can’t dismiss this aspect. As we’re all well aware, movies rake in the dough. The cool thing is she has oodles of power, being the author and all. I’m sure we would all love to order around a few producers and directors. It’s not like they could do much about it. The concept is too great. They want that cash cow. But it doesn’t stop there. Have you noticed all the Harry Potter propaganda? This stuff goes on for miles. And don’t forget the Harry Potter costume. This thing is a hit on Halloween. Just wait until October 31st.

Have you chosen a cool outfit yet? I’m talking Halloween costumes. Just a couple more weeks and that ghoulish occasion will be here. So what are you going to where? Might I suggest a fine Harry Potter costume, or possibly something from Lord of the Rings? Both cinematic wonders have caused quite a stir around the globe. This means there is a good possibility that your child will want to be Frodo or Harry Potter this October 31st. Although my daughter had no interest in a Harry Potter costume, her buddy next door sure did. She wants to go as that odd looking little elf creature that pestered Harry in the second film. I can’t even spell the thing’s name. I found this a bizarre choice for a seven year old girl, but more power to her. Just so you know, the little Halloween and costume dives you find locally are not the be-all end-all to costumes. If you can’t find a Harry Potter costume in one of these places, you may want to resort to virtual costume mega-stores. The variety is incomparable.

Whether you’re going as a vampire, cheerleader, Goth girl, mummy or simply sporting a Harry Potter costume is irrelevant. What is of concern is the date. It’s time you got on the ball. Search for that ideal costume now, while you still have time. If you don’t act fast, all the good ones will be gone and you’ll be left with nothing.

Let Your Little Girl’s Imagination Run Wild With A Princess Costume

I was beginning to worry that my daughter was going to grow up being a complete tomboy. If you look at her now, you can already tell that she is going to be a knockout when she gets older. Though I was a tomboy myself when I was growing up, there was a part of me that loved being a girl. I was worried that my daughter did not have this gene, but recently she has really shown me that she does. When we went shopping the other day, she begged and pleaded for a princess costume. We have not gotten one yet but I’m going to get her one very soon

She wants a princess costume because she recently got a ballet dance mat for Christmas. She loves the idea of being a princess, and I for one am glad that she does. While I believe some children are spoiled to the point where they really believe that they are a princess, I believe my daughter is rather levelheaded. Her imagination has taken her many places and a princess costume is just one of the latest things that she has asked for. I feel pretty confident that she is interested in many things and being a princess is just one on a long list of things in her imagination.

The more I think about it, the more I think I would like to make her a princess costume. I have seen the ones in the stores, and I do not believe they are worth thirty dollars. They seem to be made of cheap material and even though they represent almost an exact replica of what my daughter may see in the movie, I still do not believe that they are worth the money. I think a princess costume would be much more fun if it were made of material that will last longer than a few weeks. I may have to go out and buy all the pieces separately, but that is something that I prepared to do for her.

I think that her princess costume will be a small part of something bigger. I understand that her imagination is probably one of the most important things that I can nurture right now. You can not get by in any part of your life without an amazing imagination. I don’t care if you are an accountant or work on computers, you need a fair amount of imagination for problem solving purposes. I think I want to get her a dress up trunk full of clothes that she may use for play. The princess costume will be just one of many outfits she will find inside.

Every Job Needs A Psychology Degree

In an episode of The Twilight Zone, an old man is life is tied to a clock.  That is, the grandfather clock was crafted the same day he was born, so the clock, which has to be wound every two days—determines his death.  He will die if the clock “dies.”  He is sent to a psychiatrist by his well-intentioned granddaughter, with whom he lives and whom he is driving crazy with his clock “obsession”.  Chatting with the psychiatrist, he says something to the effect of if people didn’t have relationship problems, psychiatrists wouldn’t exist.  This made sense to me with regards to psychology degrees.  If we weren’t such a “screwed up” a culture, you wouldn’t need to get psychology degrees to treat us.

But we do need you and you do need one or more of the psychology degrees established to practice and administer treatment and care, work in a clinical setting, or prescribe meds.  In the same respect, according to the twenty-first-century reports, psychology degrees imply other careers and lifestyles.  That is, not everyone who gets a psych diploma gets to practice as a clinician or psychiatric doctor.  Though, to be fair to the flip side of this gross generalization, not everyone wants to.

If you are one of the many who have worked hard to earn one of the psychology degrees that like English and philosophy degrees are laughed at as being good only for teaching or waiting tables, do not despair.  We need psych majors and graduates in any field where people collaborate, socialize or compete.  With a B.A. in Psychology, you might think about working in law, where everyone from battered or fought-over children in custody suits, to those embroiled in spousal abuse or criminal cases need psychologists.

You may take your degree to work in a hospital, a school or a retirement facility, where people need you, or you may go into marketing.  Yes, consider the psychology, especially today of buy and sell of push and shove over similar and competing products and services.  How valuable you would be in every area, from demographics to design.

Or you might, according to The Labor Bureau and CNN New York’s Shelley Schwartz, take your newly acquired skills and strategies into accounting, auditing, insurance, or any number of business venues where executives, administrators and mid-level managers often tout psychology degrees.

Evidently, where people need you is not only where psychological conflicts, maladies, or malaise obviously exist—but where people work, buy, sell, think and feel.  And that is just about everywhere, now isn’t it?
